Why do you think more more conservative states are poorer, while liberal states are more prosperous?

For example, Mississippi is known as one of the most, if not the most conservative state in the country, and it also boasts the lowest literacy rate, as does its other southern companions, such as Louisiana, Alabama, and Kentucky, etc.





While more liberal states that embrace diversity, homosexual rights, true religious freedom are far far more prosperous. For example, California and New York. California I believe either the 7 or 8 largest economy in the world. While more conservative states, that have a history and reputation of not being ';open minded'; or have a record of not respecting civil or human rights, don't come near that status.





This may be a ';no-brainer'; for some, but I would like a DIVERSITY of opinions on this.Why do you think more more conservative states are poorer, while liberal states are more prosperous?
Conservatives tend to believe that it is one's own responsibility to take oneself out of a lousy situation. When this does not work, the state becomes less prosperous. Liberals tend to be more generous with government-funded help, and then the poor are able to reinvest in the economy and the state becomes more prosperous. It's much more complex than that of course.Why do you think more more conservative states are poorer, while liberal states are more prosperous?
Conservative states that prosper: CO, NV, VA... and NY prosperous? NYC is not NY state. Many parts of NY State you can buy a whole house for under $10,000, good neighboorhood too. Equals poor economy. YOur Q is inaccurate.

It's The Mob. I mean how humans act in a group, or mob, setting. When the mob has money, it likes to see different things, taste the exotic, expand their horizons. When the mob is poor, it appreciates the only thing it has, it's past. It becomes Traditionalist and promotes 'old time values'. You can see that in countries of Earth too.
Because we do not trade our morals for money
It is one hell of a lot easier to be a liberal when you have all the money you will ever need.
Liberals are good at robbing the poor to enrich themselves. Especially the politicians. Just ask any Southern Blacks.





Industry goes where it gets the best deal. Despite their protestations to the contrary, Liberals know how to butter their bread.
Simple. Education promotes liberality. You educate cavemen, you produce smarter, less superstitious cavemen.
The more educated a person is the more tolerant they are, as a rule.





That's one of the reasons the cons Republicans always want to cut taxes..........so that the school budgets will be cut. Keeps more voters in their camp.

Choosing a handful of states to make your point isn't sufficient and I believe lib/con has nothing to do with prosperity. Perhaps someone can post a legitimate link to clear things up, if they can control their political ';exuberance';.
Those who think they are more 'modern' are usually the properous ones. When you make a lot of money your shallowness widens, you give up on morality, you think religion is the opium of the people and even though you say you have 'compassion' for the destitute you could care less as you drink your Starbucks latte` off your deck/patio in your penthouse/million dollar home.





This was not always the case, at one time liberal meant open to new ideas, new concepts but still had respect for family traditions and the like.. somewhere around the 70s all the depth and openness was replaced with immoral/shallowness.





Obviously when you working your tail off to make ends meet,


taking care your children raised to be productive members of society you don't have the time to dwell on shallow ideas and 'now' tastes. Tradition is your course and that is why even though the media wants us (through their slanted polls) to make us believe majority is liberal it isn't .. the real truth is out there.





You can be diversified more when your a conservative and more closed minded when your a liberal.. the roles have reversed big time. If you don't think so try to talk about anything other than PC ideology in the coffee break room in any CA office workplace.. don't be surprised at the mean and threatening reactions.





Liberal now means your so open minded your brains are falling out of your head. All these 'modern' concepts have been tried before with disasterous results, its going to happen all over again.
