Looking to start a group home as a career to provide much needed help currently in school pursuing liberal art

degree. opening a group home is something I want to do with my degree as a career along with helpinh at-risk people is there any finiancial gain which everyone is looking for only qualified answersLooking to start a group home as a career to provide much needed help currently in school pursuing liberal art
I didn't completely understand your question but I will do my best to answer.

To open a group home, at least a good one, I would screw the liberal arts career idea and go for something more like a social services degree. The only liberal arts degree that will give you decent qualifications for that is psychology, and usually they still request you get a masters.

Financial gain, um, minimal, if at all. Group homes are usually accessed by people who have no money. They are generally non-profit organizations. Rehab centers on the other hand could give you financial gain, but once again, a liberal arts degree wouldn't do much for ya, and chances are opening one solely without business partnerships is not a realistic idea.Looking to start a group home as a career to provide much needed help currently in school pursuing liberal art
Government grants will offer some of the start up capital you need. I suggest taking a grant writing course or two. I agree that liberal arts is not the best way to go. Social work courses are best but take some business classes too. It WILL be a business.

Federal re-entry centers are big business. Think about that.

I know this might be a dream of yours but someday you will want to marry, buy a house and have a couple kids, so money and security will be an issue then. I suggest you visit a center like you want to open in another city. Pick the brains of anyone who works there. Volunteer if they allow it. Who knows maybe you could even work there some. Get a real good feel of what really goes on in there. Take notes, what you like what you don't. Good luck. This is a very noble idea and I wish you all the luck in the world!
