Do teens and young adults make a huge deal abotu their first legal drink in more liberal countries?

Like in the European countries where you only have to be 16 or 18 to drink (or in some cases no limit)?





It seems like in the US, people make such a big deal out of the 21st birthday even though many of them have had illegal drinks before.Do teens and young adults make a huge deal abotu their first legal drink in more liberal countries?
No, at 16 in my country you can legally drink at home or have a beer or wine in a cafe, with a parent or guardian so the binge factor and novelty isn't really there. By the time you turn 18 and can legally buy alcohol, marijuana and cigarettes.





Since bars,clubs and casinos, refuse entry or bar service if you are intoxicated. All people respect these rules, so you really never see anyone blotto or paralytic drunk when you go out to the pub or club.





Also when you can legally go buy alcohol, marijuana and cigarettes whenever you want, there isn't the illegal thrill or peer pressure dare of binging or hiding behind your parents back or forging a fake ID. As all 18 to 21year old Americans have, also since marijuana is illegal in the USA, this is why American binge and smoke more pot, than in countries where it's legal.





America looses hundreds of billions of tourist dollars each year due to there 21 year old drinking laws. If they lowered them there would be millions of more jobs in the USA as 18to 21 year olds could work in bars and clubs like we can.





It would fully kick start the US tourist, air, rail, bus and road travel, hospitality, and hotel/motel, resort, entertaiment, gaming and sports industries.

Well I live in Australia and my friend who recently turned 18, and moved out but still goes to high school has began drinking almost every night. I think that the idea of being able to drink legally is something that most people look forward to, the whole being an adult thing. But I mean most of them have been drunk before, so I really don;t see the point of the huge parties, and then again many of them just enjoy having the power over their friends by being able to buy them alcohol.
only prudes who were afraid to party before 21 via smokin dank weed or drinkin..only those who never did it, make it a big deal
yeah, they make a big deal out of it...it's like some sort of right of passage for the 21 year old
