The question is broad but I am seeking a lot of answers.
What takes more courage? Speaking out in favor of same-sex marriage or against it? Supporting abortion rights or opposing them? Speaking our for secular progressive positions or for more traditional Christian values?
Which would more likely lead to public ridicule? Why?What takes more courage today? Speaking out for liberal issues, or conservative ones?
Ask Miss California. What takes more courage today? Speaking out for liberal issues, or conservative ones?
Liberals love to claim they are the tolerant ones but frankly they have a hard time tolerating anything they don't agree with. Now, just because I write this doesn't mean all liberals are included. But it seems that there are quite a few of them who have no stomach for anyone who disagrees.
Speaking out for liberal ideas is easy. It doesn't even take any courage.
Well, for the past 8 years, when we protested anything the Bush admin did or wanted to do, we were called 'unpatriotic,' 'unAmerican', and forced into 'free speech zones' (Locked fences where we couldn't be seen or heard by the President or his supporters).
You, on the other hand, are free to march on Penn Ave (closed to us for 7 years), you can protest the President right in front of the white house, right in front of his bedroom window. You can march the streets in peace, without fear of being arrested or placed into free speech zones.
And after 8 years of being called 'unAmerican' we wouldn't dare put that label on anyone else for simply disagreeing with the President.
It takes more courage to fight when you are being threatened...physically, legally, etc.
Well, considering anytime a conservative speaks out for what they believe in they are considered bigots, racists, extremists, uneducated, ignorant, divisive, intolerant, etc......you name it. What was once considered morality is now considered hate. Then people go on to attack ones religion.
Liberals are afforded the ';luxury'; of all those words mentioned above and they use them every chance they can.
Conservatives are much more courageous. Miss California is a perfect example of that courageousness.
Both equally.
I live in Texas. I'm independent, but if you were a liberal here I would give you credit for having a lot of balls to speak your view (Texas is a pretty conservative state. Most liberals like traditional conservatives and vice versa. The neos are the ones who don't like each other.
speaking out on liberal issues....we definitely get more name calling....that leads to more ridicule..
people will not name call or bash as much if you are speaking out for jesus, because you don't really insult that belief as much as disagree with it..
people who speak out for gay rights are usually bashed by like liberals as well as jesus lovers...you're a pounding in the *** supporter..instead of believing in equal rights
even obama said marriage is between a man and a woman..
and that is just one of the issues...
however it is probably harder for a conservative to acknowledge liberal issues they might agree with and speak out on that...then a liberal to express conservative views as well....such as i'm a democrat who supports strong military, patriot act, death penalty...but every other view is primarily liberal....its hard for a conservative to say they are for abortion, same sex marriage, aid for school...
I would say both...I stay out of the same sex marriage...I would vote no for it but I also don't think the gay bandit's are going to break into may house and corrupt my children either..
but talk of wel fare on both gets you bashed
abortion gets you bashed
evolution or creation will get you bashed
I would say it is pretty even ....
If public ridicule means in the media, hollywood, and politically, then conservative views.
If public ridicule means what we think in the privacy of our homes and friends, then liberal views.
The PC police are after anyone with conservative traditional thought.
It is obvious that the Conservative and Republican is the most scrutinized, humiliated and viciously attacked by the Liberal and Socialist. Therefore I conclude that it takes more courage for the Conservative and Republican to speak out.
Depends where you live.
However, from what I have seen on here, on FOX, and by dozens of radio talk show hosts, it is the Liberals that get bashed the most. MSNBC is the only media I have ever seen that bashes Conservatives.
Conservative ones.
Liberals just love to play the victim card don't they lol
Pretending to be oppressed when they in fact are the oppressors.
Conservative by far. Heaven forbid if you speak out against abortion or gay marriage. Then you are call intollerant. Geeeez these people.
';Wah, wah...we f***ed up the country for the last eight years, and now nobody wants to listen to what we have to say.';
Speaking the truth.
Includes everyone.
Conservatives speaking out on liberal issues while changing parties.
Definitely easier to speak about liberal views these days..... it's an all out witch hunt on conservative ideals
liberal issues, since they require changes and conservatives hate change.
Speaking out period...especially on here! There is so much hate in politics.
Neither.
the tables are turning
people have less tolerance for, well, intolerance
I think it is getting harder to justify conservative views and easier to defend liberal ones.
It takes more courage to speak out for liberal causes.
Speaking out against international Jewry.
